Beetle Pictogram — Symbol Design in Adobe Fresco and Adobe Illustrator
The process began with hand sketches exploring how to distill the beetle's form into its most essential shapes, reducing a complex natural subject down to clean, communicative geometry. From there, a digital sketch was developed in Adobe Fresco to refine the composition before committing to a final direction. The design was then built as a comp in Adobe Illustrator, where the precision of vector tools allowed for tight control over line, proportion, and symmetry. After refining the details, super comps were produced in two different shades of green to test how color shifted the feeling and legibility of the mark. From my final feedback, a final pictogram was selected and presented in both black and full color, which demonstrates how the design holds up across different applications and contexts.
